Indie Authors

Line/copy editing and proofreading are my specialities. I firmly believe in fine tuning my specialty versus trying to spread myself too thin. My clients deserve top-tier service, and I feel I would be doing them a disservice by branching into too many services.

Unsure which editor is right for you? Check out our blog post: Editors & Editing: 3 Different Kinds

I am a diverse line/copy editor and proofreader. I will gladly provide a complimentary sample edit for whatever genre you write. However, most of my clients are in the following genres:

  • Romance
  • Fantasy
  • Romantasy
  • Contemporary
  • Young Adult
  • Women’s Fiction

Honestly, no. I have no triggers or tropes that are on a “no go” list. I will edit it all—from soup to nuts.

Our mission is to help indie authors receive professional quality editing services without the added stress. We understand that while you are investing in yourself and your business, we do not want you to feel that you have to choose between quality editing and putting food on the table.

I have extensive experience working with:

  • American Psychological Association Style Guide (APA Style): Non-fiction

This is a multifaceted question. An average turnaround time for an 80,000 word manuscript is 8 weeks. However, this is where a sample edit is very helpful. A sample edit will allow me to get a feel for your manuscript to provide you with the most accurate timeframe for completion. After completing your sample edit, I will provide you with a formal estimate for services and this includes an estimated turnaround time for your specific manuscript.

  • Microsoft Word
  • Google Doc
  • Apple’s Pages

Industry standard is Microsoft Word, and it is also my word processor of choice. I will work in Google Doc. However, the suggestion feature is not as refined as Microsoft Word’s tracked changes. The suggestion feature within Google Doc can be more cumbersome for authors to work through the suggested edits than with Microsoft Word. Additionally, I am a Mac user, so I have the option to work in Pages if this is the author’s preferred word processor.

I had the pleasure of working closely with Nicole during her time as a Curriculum Developer at Martinsburg College. Nicole consistently demonstrated exceptional skills in curriculum design, educational strategy, and instructional development, making her an invaluable asset to our team. One of Nicole's standout qualities is her ability to understand and meet the diverse needs of learners. She has a unique talent for creating engaging, inclusive, and effective learning materials that cater to various learning styles. Her attention to detail and commitment to educational excellence is evident in every project she undertakes. During our time working together, Nicole led several key initiatives that significantly improved our curriculum offerings. Her innovative approach to managing the development of the Behavior Analysis curricula, for example, not only enhanced the learning experience for our students but also received positive feedback from educators and stakeholders alike. Nicole is also an excellent collaborator. She communicates ideas clearly and effectively, and her positive attitude and willingness to support others contributes to a productive work environment. Her problem-solving skills and proactive approach to challenges have been instrumental in driving our projects to successful completion. In addition to her professional skills, Nicole is dedicated to continuous learning and professional development. She stays updated with the latest trends and best practices in education, which she seamlessly integrates into her work to ensure that our curriculum remains current and impactful. I highly recommend Nicole for any role that requires expertise in curriculum development, educational strategy, and instructional design. Her creativity, dedication, and expertise make her a standout professional.
